BackCore Maths
Core Maths has 3 key objectives:

Deepen competence in the selection and use of methods and techniques

Develop confidence in representing and analysing authentic situations and in applying mathematics to address related questions

Build skills in mathematical thinking, reasoning and communication.
What will I Study?
There are two parts to Level 3 Core Maths.
You will study: Paper 1 - This paper everyone completes - it is a mixture of general maths, financial maths, real life estimations and mathematical analysis.
Paper 2 - There are 3 different papers to choose from - depending on your other studies. At the end of Year 12 you will get to look at the different topics in these papers and decide for yourself which one to study.
What can I do with Core Maths?
The skills developed through the study of maths are in high demand from employers and universities. In addition to developing the ability to solve problems and think logically, the study of maths provides opportunities to develop team-working skills, resilience, effective communication of complex ideas and the ability to use your own initiative. Some universities reduce offers if you have a high grade in Core Maths.
What are the entry requirements?
You will need to achieve a grade 4 or higher in GCSE Mathematics - Foundation or Higher tier.
