Music Performance

Music is a subject for people who have a passion and commitment to performing, rehearsing and explorative study through practice and analysis. The course gives an insight into the creative processes through studying performance skills, historical context of performance and all genres of popular music. It is an area of study that is influenced by a range of contextual factors and allows for the exploration of creative intentions to be realised in performance. 

 

What will I study?

There are four parts to BTEC Music.  You will study:

  1. Unit 1: Practical music theory and harmony
  2. Unit 2: Professional Practice in the Music Industry
  3. Unit 3: Ensemble Music Performance
  4. Optional Unit: (internal assessment).

 

What can I do with a BTEC Music?

People who study Music go on to a range of courses in the future, including Music Performance, Events Organisation, Production Arts and Music Technology. 

 

Entry Requirements

If you are studying Music you will need to get a BTEC Merit or a GCSE Grade 5+ 

If you are not doing Music at KS4 then you need experience with musical performance (e.g. instruments, singing or rapping). An audition may be required.  Alternative entry requirements Grade 5+ on a musical instrument and Grade 4 theory.
