Psychology

Studying Psychology enriches us by helping us to understand human behaviour much better, with all its social interaction, language, communication, motivation, emotions, and decision making. If you study psychology you'll be able to hone your analytical and organisational skills and learn about scientific research methods, including collecting and working with data. Learning about human behaviour can also help to build your communication skills and improve your teamwork and leadership skills.

 

What will I study?

There are three parts to A-Level Psychology. You will study:

1. Introductory topics: social influence, memory attachment and psychopathology.

2. Psychology in context: approaches, biopsychology and research methods.

3. Issues and options in Psychology:  Issues and debates and then pupils can choose 3 topics from: relationships, gender, cognition, schizophrenia, eating behavior, stress, aggression, forensic psychology and addiction.

What can I do with Psychology?

Psychology gives you experience of scientific theory, maths & research skills, history and essay writing, so it can complement a range of subjects and careers.

Entry Requirements

If you are doing GCSE Psychology you need to get a Grade 5+

If you are not doing GCSE Psychology then you need to get a Grade 5+ in English and a Grade 5 in Mathematics.
