Further Maths broadens and deepens the mathematical knowledge and skills developed when studying A-level Maths. Many of the top tier Universities require this subject to study Engineering, Computer Science and Maths. This exciting course will introduce you to imaginary numbers, matrices and hyperbolic functions. People that have studied Further Maths generally find the most challenging courses more manageable as they will develop skills in thinking in an abstract way and developing structured arguments.
What will I study?
The course consists of Pure Mathematics and two applied topics – mechanics and additional pure.
What can I do with A-Level maths?
People who study Further Maths go on to a range of courses in the future, it is a must for anyone planning on studying degree level Mathematics or those that are strongly mathematically related such as Engineering or Computer Science.
What are the entry requirements?
You need to get a Grade 8+ or above at GCSE Maths and you need to be taking A-Level Mathematics.
